J'ai deux serveurs. L' ancien a 24 Go de RAM, i7-950 @ 3,0Ghz, 2x HDD SATA de 1,5 To (ST31500341AS).
Le nouveau lecteur possède une mémoire vive de 32 Go, i7-3770 à 3,4 GHz, 2 disques durs SATA de 3,0 To (ST3000DM001-9YN166).
J'ai maintenant remarqué que la création d'une nouvelle machine virtuelle sur le nouvel hôte prend environ deux fois plus de temps que sur l' ancien hôte, même si le nouveau processeur devrait être 66% plus rapide que l' ancien et qu'il dispose de plus de mémoire. De plus, les disques durs étaient plus rapides lors de la synchronisation initiale du raid, mais je n’ai aucun chiffre à ce sujet.
J'ai donc suspecté les disques durs d'être le facteur limitant et j'ai lancé Bonnie ++ sur les deux systèmes.
Les deux systèmes exécutent Ubuntu 12.04 et les tests ont eu lieu sur un volume LVM formaté avec xfs, lazy-counters activé.

Je pense que cela montre clairement que les performances de lecture / écriture sur le nouveau serveur sont en effet bien meilleures que sur l’ ancien serveur. (Peut-être en raison de la rapidité des disques durs ou de la charge de l'ancien serveur). Cependant, la création (et la suppression) de fichiers est beaucoup plus lente.
Que puis-je faire pour améliorer ou analyser cela?
